I’ve never had a worse experience with a dentist in my life. I would recommend people steer clear! If I could give 0 stars, I would.
The dentist was initially chatty and friendly, but after I made it clear that I was only there for a basic cleaning, the tone of the visit noticeably changed. After my teeth were already checked once, they briefly poked around my gums, and I was then told that I suddenly needed a microbial rinse and an antibiotic, each costing over $100. I was also told that if I didn’t take the antibiotic, “that’s how you lose the tooth.” This felt alarmist and pressure-driven rather than a balanced discussion of care.
When I said I wanted to get a second opinion, I was told that my insurance only covers one cleaning per year (which is inaccurate) and that I would have to wait a year to see someone else.
I’ve never been to a dentist where teeth are polished before scaling, but that’s what was done here. Outside of the polishing, the dentist and hygienist worked on my teeth for only about five minutes each. The hygienist didn’t even sit down to scale my teeth, and the entire cleaning felt extremely rushed and superficial.
There was also a lot of waiting around throughout the visit, despite the office not appearing busy.
Overall, the visit felt disorganized, impersonal, and heavily focused on upselling rather than providing thorough dental care.
