What Patients Said
4.4 out of 5 from 175 reviews.
I live in the san marcos area, and had been looking for a dentist for about a year. I had gone to two different places and they both treated me like more of a burden and a wallet than a person.
Then I was recommended the Tierrasanta Dental Group by a family friend. So I decided to give it a try, and I can absolutely see why it was recommended. From the moment I walked in, it smelled nice, it was clean and Ben greeted my immediately. He was very nice and made me laugh and seemed genuinely interested in my day. Later on he helped me with scheduling and billing and was super clear, understandable and helpful. Natalie helped me do my x-rays and was super nice and patient when I told her I was a bit sensitive. She made me feel comfortable and heard. At the end, Latisha helped me get my next checkup scheduled and just carried on that great personal feeling and welcoming atmosphere.
I am someone who feeds off of the energy of other people, and there wasn’t one person at this location that had bad energy. I know everyone at a dentist works hard, and may be been tired or irritated, but I couldn’t tell. They were perfectly nice to me, listened and answered all the questions I had. And made my experience a great one. I definitely found my dentist, and will be coming back every 6 months!

My husband and I found Tierrasanta Dental Group after relocating back to San Diego and were immediately grateful we did. The front desk staff have always been very kind and welcoming, and the clinical staff do an exceptional job making sure myself and my spouse have felt comfortable during our visits. Something I particularly appreciate from my visits is that the team has always taken the time to answer my questions and provide thoughtful and detailed answers. I recently had a visit with hygienist Uyen-Nhu who continued to think on my questions throughout the appointment, provided thoughtful answers, provided great insight overall, while also doing a great job for my cleaning. Overall, I would say this has been the best dentist office we have been to, and I would highly recommend.

This started out as what I thought was a highly rated dental office, but after a few visits, it unfortunately turned into one of the worst dental experiences I've had...
First, parking is extremely difficult, with 30-minute parking signs posted throughout the area, yet my latest appointment lasted well over an hour (for basic cleaning work, mind you).
The front desk experience was inconsistent. I arrived on time for my appointment, but there was no receptionist present when I checked in. After waiting several minutes, someone returned and seemed unaware that I had already arrived because the other staff member had not informed him. He was polite and professional throughout my interactions, which I appreciated.
The biggest issue was my experience with the dentist. Communication was poor from the beginning. I did not feel that I was given a clear explanation of the treatment plan, timeline, or what to expect. During my procedure, the dentist appeared rushed, frequently moving between tasks, and was noticeably impatient. Even the dental assistant, who was kind and professional, seemed uncomfortable with the situation.
What concerned me most was that immediately after the procedure, the dentist stated that she had not done a good job and that I should return to have it adjusted. After already spending more than an hour there, I was hesitant to start the process over again. She suggested that staffing limitations due to lunch made it difficult, but later the front desk told me staffing was not actually an issue. I received conflicting explanations from different members of the office, which left me unsure of what was really going on.
After the procedure, I tried to ask a few basic questions about the treatment, potential complications, and what I should watch for afterward. Rather than receiving reassurance or guidance, I felt rushed through the conversation. The dentist repeatedly appeared impatient and ended the discussion by saying something along the lines of, "I did all I could with what I had. I did my best. Sorry, bye," before quickly leaving. I was left having to ask the front desk questions that should have been answered by my provider.
Even my cleaning felt unusually short and rushed compared to the level of care I've previously received at this office and at other dental practices.
Overall, the experience felt unprofessional, disorganized, and uncomfortable as a patient, especially considering the amount I paid for treatment. The conflicting explanations, rushed care, and lack of communication made it difficult to feel confident in the treatment I received. Unfortunately, after this experience, I would have a hard time ever returning. I am working now to book my next appointment elsewhere, but I wish someone had warned me beforehand, so please be aware & beware.
I also informed the office about this experience weeks ago, as well as while I was there, yet nobody has attempted to contact me to apologize, address my concerns, or make things right. That makes it difficult to believe they genuinely care about their patients once a problem arises.
