/* Free Dentist Office */ WHY THIS EXISTS A person with Medi-Cal dental coverage and a sore tooth has a specific problem. Not "find a dentist". Find a dentist who will actually take the card, is near enough to get to, and can speak to them. The state publishes the provider data. It is a spreadsheet of fifty thousand rows with a column called Provider_Specialty_Code_Desc and a long standing typo in the word Practitioner. It is correct, it is public, and it is unreadable if you are in pain at eleven at night. So the work here was not gathering. It was the boring part. Matching on provider numbers instead of names, because two dentists share a surname and one of them is in another county. Throwing away a match when the business turned out to be a corporate office with a similar name. Withholding fifteen street addresses that were somebody's apartment. Saying "we could not confirm this" on two hundred and seventy eight pages, when saying nothing would have looked better and been a lie. A directory is only worth the things it refuses to publish. The name says free, so the site has to be straight about who that is true for. On Medi-Cal, most of this costs nothing. Without it, none of it is free, and saying so on the homepage loses a few clicks and keeps the promise honest. One state today. The map is not full and the site says which part is missing. /* SITE */ Language: English Standards: HTML5, CSS3, no ads, no account Components: none, it is static files Built with: Python and stubbornness Last update: 2026-10-24
